What is your app/software?

Posted by Finasty - February 27th, 2024

Im asking what do you guys using to draw and why? Plus why is it more comfortable to draw than other drawing app/software?

This is my reason

Im using Medibang Paint to draw bcoz it's easier for me to draw in high canvases (3k or 4k) to get better at lining, although lack of effects, but the app runs smoothly, i use IbisPaint X a while back, but i cant draw on high canvases as the app limit you to do that

What is your reason?

I just use pencil and paper because that’s what I grew up with knowing how to draw so I just stick with it. Whenever I try drawing on a computer or something I’m just not that good at it.

If only you know how to use it, you can trace over

my current software isn't actually app/software but it's Paper and my first art work i used Colored Pencils but i have bent thinking of using other art materials and i do it because i currently have no idea what art software to use

So, you've been drawing only using a colored pencils, not using a pen for make the line more clean?

photoshop

Aren't Photoshop just for editing?

Used to be Flipaclip. Switched over to SketchBook (the app)

FlipaClip is actually not a good place for doing just art to be honest

A mix between Animate/Ibis

You can get those two in IbisPaint

IbisPaint
I use it bc of the multiple choices for brushes

Plus, you can get tye brushes by only watching ads

I've gone back to pencil and paper for drawing, maybe pen and markers from time to time. As someone who grew up in the "pre-smartphone/iPad" era, it's just the most comfortable for me.

As for 3D, I use Blender (well, technically a fork of Blender called B4Artists) because I am a cheap bastard that would rather spend hours optimizing 3D renders than getting a computer that could run better software like Unreal Engine, Maya and Substance Painter.

You can try to implement your traditional art into 3D if you really want it, i have seen several of it, pretty good

My program is really old, it's called Pencil & Paper.

That's called, Traditional art, my friend

@Finasty oh trust me, I know

@Finasty IT ALSO FOR DRAWIMG

I know i know lmao

@Finasty oh no i use a regular Pencil for the lines but sadly i don't have pen

Ah jeez, as long as you make it bold, im sure we can see clearly

I mostly use krita, just for the simple fact that its easy. Sometimes I switch between kleki, and krita. I always used to use ibis paint, but then i used magma to draw. and then i went to trad art, and then i went back to digital

You choose the hard way to draw

@Finasty Can you give examples? Implementing traditional art into 3D sounds awesome, and would go a long way towards making 3D look less "digital" and soulless.

Taking pictures of my paper-and-pencil drawings and turning the pictures into textures for my 3D models is the only example I can think of right now.

Yes and it's the only possible way, i mean there is another way, but you need a muscle memory for that as you keep looking for it back and forth from 3D software to the pictures, if you already knew what the design is, your only need is just memory
