After all these years

Posted by Finasty - July 12th, 2023

Yep, you heard that, after all these years im drawing (3 years now to be exact) i just noticed my improvement on my recent art that i just uploaded, remember when i said im gonna drawing background even better? Yeah, i achieve it in 6 months, now all i need is just to get used to it first

This is how my progress was:

Character improvement: 2 Years

Background improvement: 6 Months

Why the character is the longest time i improve? I had through a lot of improvement and trying a new style, even hiatus for i think 3 months just to think what should i do to improve, and in april 2021, im starting to improve the character slowly and... Look at my drawing now, i got my own artstyle aswell as background.

I did draw background before but i failed, and now it's even better

And also some dramas, i get improve by not just all by myself, but by fight with other artists aswell, an Indonesian art group, i did leave all the group and that's encourage me to improve even more

All i need was get used to it first before going for more, well, ofc comes with the how long i will draw it bcoz im not putting all the references into the canvas, i look all of the references, combine all into one and draw it with creativity i got by watching the reference pictures

I think that's all for now, hopefully this not so really important news helps you with the art

The rate at which you improve alarms me. How do you even find the time?

I think you may have improved more with backgrounds because generally, drawing background elements and props is easier and sometimes even less time-consuming than characters and all their complexities and quirks. It's really a matter of getting decent at perspective.

You right, drawing character is way more harder than background (except coloring the background ofc)

Also, i got an improvement not just by dramas, but by looking at other art that i have seen (even the background) and well mostly i forget since i have a bad shit memory, but i can be sometime focus on what i saw and try to implement it with my own artstyle with different brush i used

About the time, i mostly just draw 3-4 hours a day (even not drawing at all if im busy or having a sleepover) that's why my art took longer to finish
